My soul speaks when I create. Pain and frustration, joy and pleasure appear from within the paper or canvas. At times the scene is created in a flow that is hard to describe and is most successful when it continues with my help. Artists have to create when the mood strikes them and I certainly have found that happen with my more successful work. Traditionally trained I have found that there is more energy when one experiments and tries a different approach. What is pleasing to the eye and the soul is a success. Color and texture often express that energy. Redoing or painting over offers pleasant surprises and can develop into fantastic piece. Trying new approaches enhance the artistry within.
She has a BFA from Syracuse University. Her illustration major took her to NYC where she worked at Harper’s Bazaar. From there she became Art Director at Gimbel’s and taught at the Philadelphia Art Institute. Another position at the Art Institute in Pittsburgh followed her family’s move there. Studies at Arrowmont under Nancy Dillon further enhanced her skills. She ran a figure drawing workshop at the Oak Island Art Guild. Her work has been locally displayed in the Franklin Gallery in Southport, WHQR studios and at the ArtWorks in Wilmington, NC. and Marshalls Little Art Gallery in Greensboro, NC.
